Them and Us with Rod Webb
Most organisations have teams that need to work together
though geographically separated. Whether it's a project involving different departments
in the same call centre, training companies working with their associates, teams
working with teams from other sites in the same organisation, remote working is
a reality for most of us.
In this session, delegates will get the opportunity to
learn first hand about Glasstap's experience of working as a 'remote' team. This
will be a fun session based on a famous quiz show, where delegates will set the
agenda and have the opportunity to practice their coaching skills. You'll gain a
really practical, honest and unrehearsed insight into the challenges of operating
as a remote team and the opportunities a more flexible approach to the working environment
creates.
By exploring our successes and failures and identifying our strengths and weaknesses you'll gain some really practical ideas about how to ensure diverse teams
work effectively together. Expect fun, laughter, the opportunity to embarrass us
and some really good learning based on real events. |
Session Objectives
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Suggest ideas for helping geographically remote teams work effectively together
towards shared goals.
- List some of the dos and don'ts of working remotely.
- Highlight some of the dangers of working remotely and suggest ways of avoiding
the pitfalls.

About Rod
Rod Webb, co-founded what was to become Glasstap
Limited in 2000, following a 14+ year career in banking that included operational
management and training management. He spent the next three years working with organisations
like Orange, the Co-operative Group and Iceland Foods specialising in developing
Creative Thinking and Behaviour Based Interviewing skills.
It was during this time that Rod started writing teambuilding games like Island
of Opportunity and Murder
at Glasstap Grange.
His love of writing and design combined
with a desire to travel less, led to the launch of Trainers’ Library in 2003.
The first version of Trainers’ Library was launched in just 6 weeks after the idea came
to him one day whilst out riding in the beautiful Pennine countryside as he pondered
the success of Friends Reunited.
Today, Glasstap has customers in well over 40 countries
and is expanding its range of services to professional trainers. Rod is primarily
responsible for the strategic development of the business and retains overall responsibility
for all Trainers’ Library content.
